Veeam Software, a leading data protection and ransomware recovery company, has recently moved its corporate headquarters from Columbus, Ohio, to the Seattle area in Kirkland’s Carillon Point. The company made the move following its acquisition by Insight Partners, a deal valued at $5 billion. Anand Eswaran, the CEO of Veeam, decided to shift the center of the company’s operations to the Seattle area due to the proximity to major cloud providers and the abundance of technical talent available in the region.

Veeam has established strategic partnerships with major companies such as Microsoft, Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud, and Oracle. Recently, they extended their partnership with Microsoft to jointly develop AI solutions and integrate Veeam’s products with Microsoft Copilot and other AI services. The company is also focusing on expanding its presence in the Seattle area, with plans to continue growing its team of employees in the region. Veeam has a strong presence in the cloud services market and ranks highly in data replication and protection by market share according to reports from IDC and Gartner.

In addition to its core data protection and backup services, Veeam is also known for its sponsorship of the Seattle Orcas, a Major League Cricket franchise. This sponsorship is seen as a way to further establish the company’s presence in the Seattle region. The new headquarters in Kirkland includes a large executive briefing center and offers space for potential expansion in the future. The company’s growth is attributed to the increasing focus on data protection and backup services, particularly in response to the rise of ransomware and other cyber threats.

Veeam’s growth is evident in its recent milestone of surpassing $1.5 billion in annual recurring revenue for the first time. The company’s features include backup services for virtual, physical, and cloud-based machines, with a variety of options for data protection, restoration, and recovery from attacks. Veeam’s 2024 Data Protection Trends Report revealed key findings about ransomware attacks, with 75% of companies experiencing at least one attack in the last 12 months. AI has played a significant role in changing the dynamics of ransomware attacks, both for bad actors and defense mechanisms.

Eswaran, who has a background in technology and cricket, sees the sponsorship of the Seattle Orcas as a way to connect his personal interests with the company’s growth strategy. He grew up watching and playing cricket in India and views the opportunity to watch world-class cricket players in the Seattle area as a dream come true. The partnership with the Orcas ownership group, which includes leaders from Microsoft and other tech companies, reflects Veeam’s commitment to building relationships and expanding its presence in the Seattle region.
