Germany has arrested two German-Russian nationals for allegedly plotting sabotage attacks, including targeting U.S. military facilities, in an effort to undermine military support for Ukraine. One of the suspects, identified as Dieter S., had been in contact with a person linked to the Russian secret service since October 2023. Germany, a major supplier of military aid to Ukraine, has become a target for Russian espionage and sabotage operations. The suspects were planning bomb and arson attacks on military facilities, including those used by U.S. forces.

Ukraine’s air force reported intercepting 13 Russian drones over various regions overnight, including Iranian-made models deployed from Russia. The drones were shot down by anti-aircraft missile units and mobile fire groups. Ukraine’s armed forces commander-in-chief emphasized the urgent need for modern air defense, artillery, ammunition, and heavy armored vehicles during discussions with top U.S. General Christopher Cavoli. Ukraine is facing artillery and ammunition shortages that threaten its ability to counter Russia’s forces.

Russia claimed to have intercepted nearly 50 Ukrainian drones, missiles, and small balloons over its borders using air defense systems. The regions bordering Ukraine, including Belgorod, Rostov, and Voronezh, have been the targets of numerous attacks. Ukraine has not commented on these alleged incidents. President Zelenskyy has urged Ukraine’s allies to provide the same level of support and defense that Israel received in the face of Iranian attacks. The Russia-Ukraine war is seen as the biggest threat to global economic growth, impacting defense spending and agriculture markets.

Ukraine’s media group, 1+1 Media, reported a hostile attack on its satellite TV channels, resulting in the suspension of broadcasting for 39 channels. The company accused Russia of jamming Ukrainian signals to spread disinformation and destabilize the situation in Ukraine. The Kremlin refused to confirm or deny whether it was forewarned of Iran’s attack on Israel, calling for de-escalation in the region. Active hostilities are unfolding in the Chasiv Yar area, with Russian forces seeking to seize the town as a strategic objective in their offensive in eastern Ukraine.

The situation in Ukraine remains critical, with ongoing military operations, espionage activities, and attacks on media outlets. Ukrainian forces are facing challenges due to shortages in crucial military equipment and ammunition. President Zelenskyy continues to appeal for increased support from Western allies, highlighting the need for air defenses and artillery to counter Russian aggression. The conflict between Russia and Ukraine has significant implications for global economic stability and security, with the war posing a serious threat to regional and international peace.
