Universal Studios Hollywood has announced that the highly anticipated Fast and Furious rollercoaster will open in 2026. The attraction, titled Fast and Furious: Hollywood Drift, will be the theme park’s first high-speed outdoor coaster inspired by the successful film franchise that has grossed over $7 billion at the box office. The ride will be located on the Upper Lot where guests will board in a large, red brick, garage-style structure. The opening of Fast and Furious: Hollywood Drift will coincide with the 25th anniversary of the first film in the franchise.

Executive Vice President and General Manager of Universal Studios Hollywood, Scott Strobl, expressed excitement for the new attraction stating, “Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift will be a powerful game changer that will infuse a new level of thrill into our already dynamic theme park.” The park looks forward to welcoming guests to experience the coaster in 2026. This isn’t the first Fast and Furious attraction at the park, as previous rides like The Fast and the Furious: Extreme Close-Up and Fast and Furious: Supercharged have been featured as part of the Studio Tour in the past.

Fast and Furious: Hollywood Drift will be a state-of-the-art ride system that immerses guests in the high-speed Fast & Furious universe. The coaster will use a groundbreaking 360-degree rotation of individual ride vehicles to create a seamless sensation of drifting cars as riders spin along the aerial track at fast speeds. The vehicles will be styled similarly to cars featured in the films. Construction on Fast and Furious: Hollywood Drift is already underway and is expected to be a significant addition to the theme park, following the success of attractions like Super Nintendo World in 2023.

The addition of Fast and Furious: Hollywood Drift will come shortly after the release of the eleventh film in the franchise and will mark a milestone for the park as the first significant addition since 2023. The original Fast and Furious movie, released in 2001, starred Paul Walker and Vin Diesel, kicking off a successful film series that has become Universal’s most successful movie franchise and the seventh highest-grossing film series of all time.

More details about Fast and Furious: Hollywood Drift will be announced in the future, leaving fans excited to learn what the new rollercoaster will entail. The impact of the arrival of the coaster on other Fast and Furious attractions at the park, like Fast and Furious: Supercharged, remains unknown. Universal Studios Hollywood continues to evolve and expand its offerings to provide guests with immersive and thrilling experiences inspired by popular franchises like Fast and Furious.
