According to a statement from the Istanbul Police Department, an operation was carried out in Tepeören Mahallesi on March 25 around 11:00 pm to ensure public order and to apprehend suspicious individuals.

As the operation point approached, the driver of a vehicle that was intended to be stopped for inspection did not obey the “stop” warning and hit a police officer before fleeing.

After the incident in which the police officer was injured, the teams examined the security camera footage to determine the escape route of the vehicle. The teams found the abandoned vehicle in Kurtdoğmuş Köyü in Pendik district and identified the suspect as Y.K.

The suspect, who was taken into custody by the teams, fled because he thought he was wanted from the operation point, but it was determined that there was no search record during the checks.

After the suspect’s process at the police station, he was arrested by the judicial authorities for the crime of “intentional injury.”

It was learned that the injured police officer’s general health condition was good.
