Cabot Highlands in Inverness, Scotland, has officially announced the name of its newest golf course – Old Petty. Named after the nearly 200-year-old church located alongside the fifth hole of the Tom Doak designed course, Old Petty is set to open next year. The course is part of the Cabot Collection, which recently acquired the Castle Stuart course and rebranded it as Cabot Highlands. Plans for a second 18-hole championship layout that runs alongside a tidal estuary near the property’s 400-year-old castle were also announced.

The logo for Old Petty pays homage to the region’s iconic highland cow, known as “Hairy Coo” by the Scots. Castle Stuart, which opened for the 2024 season, offers guests a chance to play on a course designed by Gil Hanse and the late Mark Parsinen, recognized as one of the top 100 courses in the world. Accommodations are available onsite at the Golf Lodge or the Farmhouse, with dining options at Cabot Highlands’ art-deco inspired clubhouse, which includes a bar, restaurant, and top-floor lounge for guests to enjoy.

When Old Petty opens for preview play next year, it will be accompanied by an extended 11,000-square-foot clubhouse that features a whiskey and cigar bar, clubhouse grill, and chophouse restaurant. The Doak-designed course includes unique elements such as an old farmhouse, a fishing boat, and the 1st and 18th fairways crossing directly over one another. This expansion of the golf amenities at Cabot Highlands marks a significant milestone for the Cabot Collection, as it continues to expand its presence globally.

With Cabot Saint Lucia recently making it into GOLF Magazine’s Top 100 courses in the world upon its opening in 2023, and with Cabot Citrus Farms in Florida opening its first 18-hole course and two short courses in January, the Cabot Collection shows no sign of slowing down. The development of Cabot Revelstoke in British Columbia is underway, with plans for the debut of the course next year. The growth of the Cabot Collection signifies its commitment to providing world-class golf experiences in unique and picturesque locations around the globe.

The announcement of the new course’s name and the expansion of facilities at Cabot Highlands highlight the ongoing efforts of the Cabot Collection to offer unparalleled golf experiences to its guests. With a focus on creating innovative and memorable courses, Cabot is cementing its reputation as a leader in the luxury golf industry. The addition of Old Petty, with its nod to the history and culture of the region, is sure to attract golf enthusiasts from around the world looking for a unique and challenging golfing experience in the stunning Scottish Highlands.

As the Cabot Collection continues to grow and expand its reach, golfers can look forward to more exciting developments and opportunities to play on world-class courses in breathtaking locations. The opening of Old Petty and the extended clubhouse at Cabot Highlands are just the latest examples of the collection’s dedication to providing top-tier golf experiences that combine history, culture, and natural beauty. With plans for new courses and developments on the horizon, the Cabot Collection is poised to remain at the forefront of the luxury golf industry for years to come.
