Zendaya co-hosted the Met Gala this year, returning to the red carpet after skipping the event for the fourth time last year. She arrived in a lamé and organza Maison Margiela gown with hand-painted metallic accents, tiny hummingbirds, and a satin corset. Zendaya’s hair was styled in a tousled up-do, and she accessorized with a feathered plume-like veil, aligning perfectly with the “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion” theme and “garden of time” dress code for the night. Her makeup was done by beauty icon Pat McGrath, who also created a similar viral look for a Margiela runway show.

Zendaya was one of four co-chairs for this year’s Met Gala, along with Jennifer Lopez, Chris Hemsworth, and Bad Bunny. Zendaya wore a Maison Margiela gown and Tabi footwear. She was styled by her longtime stylist Law Roach, who announced his retirement from the industry in 2023 but clarified that he would continue working with Zendaya. Just days before the gala, Roach revealed that Zendaya’s dress had not yet been made and would be fitted the Saturday before the event.

Zendaya did not walk the Met Gala carpet with her boyfriend Tom Holland, who has never attended the event but has been supporting Zendaya during her promotional events for her latest movie, “Challengers.” The couple met in 2016 on the set of “Spider-Man: Homecoming” but kept their relationship private until Page Six broke the news in July 2021. Zendaya has had a busy schedule, transitioning from the futuristic fashion-filled “Dune” press tour to promoting “Challengers,” where she plays a tennis player-turned-coach involved in a love triangle.

Throughout her promotional appearances for “Challengers,” Zendaya showcased a variety of tennis-inspired looks, including a green Loewe gown with a tennis player graphic. She also wore Loewe pumps made from tennis balls, a Thom Browne design inspired by Wimbledon whites, and recreated Venus and Serena Williams’ iconic black-and-white Carolina Herrera gown and beaded braids from a 1998 Vogue shoot. Zendaya also attended Anna Wintour’s pre-Met Gala dinner in a vintage Dior Couture dress embellished with tiny flowers, giving a hint of her nature-themed look for the event.

Zendaya’s Met Gala look was inspired by the “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion” theme and “garden of time” dress code. She arrived in a Maison Margiela gown with metallic accents, hummingbirds, and a satin corset, perfectly embodying the nature-inspired theme. With her tousled up-do, feathered veil, and dark eyeshadow, Zendaya’s look was completed by makeup from Pat McGrath, creating a dramatic and striking appearance. As one of the co-chairs for the event, Zendaya joined other celebrities in showcasing their unique interpretations of the theme and dress code on the Met Gala red carpet.
