Ukraine reported that it had successfully thwarted over 50 Russian attacks in the eastern Donetsk region, following the recent capture of the village of Novobakhmutivka by Moscow. The Ukrainian army confirmed it had repulsed 55 attacks in various villages north and west of Novobakhmutivka, including heavy fighting in Ocheretyne. These villages are situated north of Adviivka, which had been captured by Russian troops in February, leading to further advancement of Moscow’s forces into the Donetsk region.

In addition to the eastern front, Ukraine stated that its forces were able to hold back Russian troops in settlements west of Donetsk, including the town of Krasnogorivka – an important strategic location for Kyiv. Ukrainian forces reported that Russian troops attempted to break through their defenses 15 times with the support of aviation. Krasnogorivka has become more vulnerable following the fall of nearby Marinka and Avdiivka, resulting in increased fighting in the region. Commander-in-chief Oleksandr Syrsky mentioned that troops had retreated to new defensive lines further west in certain areas.
