Charlotte Tilbury is expanding her empire into the fragrance world with the launch of Collection of Emotions, a line of six perfumes designed to elicit specific feelings through scent. Working with neuroscience experts and master perfumers from IFF, Tilbury set out to create fragrances that have the power to change the way we feel. The result is six universal feelings bottled as scents: Love Frequency, Joyphoria, Magic Energy, Calm Bliss, More Sex, and Cosmic Power. The scents are backed by decades of research into how different fragrance notes affect the brain.

Tilbury was shocked that IFF’s research had never been used to design a scent that elicits emotion before. She utilized color theory to match the color of each bottle to the feelings and memories the perfume inside has been created to evoke. The bottles are inspired by 18th-century alchemy bottles, with the lids a nod to the Egyptian Pyramids. Tilbury hopes customers will choose a fragrance based on how they want to feel on any given day. The perfumes can also be layered together for a custom scent experience.

During the testing phase, Tilbury gave tester vials to her friends, who reported surprising results. Those who wore Magic Energy were chased down the street by strangers demanding to know what perfume they had on, while others used the layering method to promote calm. Tilbury’s previous perfume launch, Scent of a Dream, quickly attained cult status, indicating her potential for success in the fragrance market with Collection of Emotions. The fragrances will be exclusively available on the Charlotte Tilbury App starting April 30th and will be available nationwide and globally from May 2nd.
