A tragic incident occurred in the Kuzeyyaka neighborhood of Kepez district, located on Yeşilırmak Street, when the driver of a bus, N.G., got into an argument with the driver of a car, Önder Çakır, for unknown reasons. Following the argument, N.G. stabbed Çakır, leading to a call to the police and health teams by Çakır’s wife and daughter who were also in the car.

Çakır was initially taken to a private hospital by ambulance and then transferred to Akdeniz University Hospital, where despite medical intervention, he tragically lost his life. His body was later taken to the Antalya Forensic Medicine Morgue and after the necessary procedures were completed, handed over to his family. Meanwhile, N.G., who fled after the incident, was apprehended by the police thanks to their efforts.

After his procedures at the police station, the suspect was brought to court and was subsequently arrested by the duty criminal judge for the crime of “intentional murder.” In his statement to the police, the suspect claimed that Çakır, whom they argued with in traffic, came in front of his car and got out, and when Çakır put his hand in his pocket, he allegedly stabbed him with a screwdriver he took from the car.

Önder Çakır’s brother, Öner Çakır, shared with journalists that after the traffic light turned green, a car behind them honked at his brother, showing his frustration. He denied that there was any fight between the two parties, arguing that such a violent response was unjustified. He questioned the simplicity of the situation, highlighting the emotional trauma his family witnessed with the brutal attack taking place in front of Çakır’s wife and child.

The incident has caused shock and sorrow in the local community, raising concerns about escalating violence in everyday situations. The tragic loss of Çakır’s life under such circumstances has prompted calls for increased awareness and measures to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future. The legal process for the suspect is currently underway, as authorities seek justice for the victim and his grieving family.
