Britney Spears and Sam Asghari have officially finalized their divorce after nine months of separating. The exes maintained the terms of their prenuptial agreement in the divorce proceedings. Spears will keep miscellaneous jewelry and other personal items, as well as earnings she made before, during, and after their marriage. The court documents also state that additional property assets will be divided according to their prenup. The divorce was settled amicably, largely due to the ironclad prenup in place between the couple.

The documents for the divorce were filed at a Los Angeles court late Wednesday night, and will be official upon a judge’s signature. Sources close to Spears revealed that she is continuing to turn the page and refuted claims of her going broke, citing a landmark book deal and strong earning power for her future projects. The divorce was settled in a friendly manner due to the prenup and lack of contestation. Representatives for the couple did not immediately respond to requests for comment from Page Six.

Sources confirmed in August of the previous year that the pop superstar and fitness trainer-turned-actor had separated after 14 months of marriage, with accusations of infidelity. While Asghari initially tried to renegotiate the prenup, he did not contest it during the divorce process. Asghari officially filed for divorce in August, citing irreconcilable differences. He requested spousal support and his attorneys’ fees, while Spears hired a celebrity family law attorney and a former federal prosecutor to represent her.

The divorce proceedings also revolved around the custody of their five dogs, for which they were able to reach an agreement in late August. Asghari became the sole owner of a doberman he had bought for Spears, while she received full custody of her other dogs. The couple did not share any children together, making custody agreements straightforward. Spears and Asghari had tied the knot in June 2020 after six years of dating, marking her third marriage after her previous short-lived union with Jason Alexander and marriage to Kevin Federline.

Spears’ previous two marriages were to Jason Alexander in 2004 for 55 hours and to Kevin Federline from 2004 to 2007, with whom she shares her two sons. Asghari expressed his love and respect for Spears even after the separation and divorce and wished her the best. Despite initial reports of a rocky end to their relationship, Spears and Asghari appeared to have amicably worked out their divorce matters. They managed to divide assets and settle the terms of their prenup due to their mutual respect and understanding of the situation.
