Taylor Swift’s new album, The Tortured Poets Department, has debuted at No. 1 in the U.K. This accomplishment adds to the impressive list of achievements for Swift, as it marks her twelfth No. 1 album in the country. With this win, Swift has now tied with music legends Bruce Springsteen and Madonna, making them the fifth-most successful acts in U.K. chart history in terms of No. 1 albums.

Before the release of The Tortured Poets Department, Swift was on par with other iconic artists such as U2, Rod Stewart, and David Bowie, who all have 11 No. 1 albums in the U.K. However, with this latest success, Swift has surpassed them and solidified her position among the top-ranking artists in U.K. chart history.

The Beatles continue to hold the record for the most No. 1 albums in U.K. history, with 16 chart-topping projects. Following closely behind are The Rolling Stones and Robbie Williams, who are tied for second place with 14 No. 1 albums each. Elvis Presley is just one win ahead of Swift, Madonna, and Springsteen, with 13 No. 1 albums to his name in the U.K.

The Tortured Poets Department achieved a massive opening week with 270,000 equivalent units sold in the U.K. This impressive figure not only secured Swift another No. 1 album but also helped her land a chart double, as the album’s lead single, “Fortnight” featuring Post Malone, also reached No. 1 on its respective chart. Swift’s continued success in the U.K. further cements her status as a powerhouse in the music industry.
