STEPN, a move-to-earn platform that gamifies wellness, has announced a partnership with global sports brand adidas to release a collection of NFT sneakers. The collection, called the 1000 STEPN x adidas Genesis Sneakers, features generative NFT sneakers inspired by adidas’ most famous running silhouettes. The sneakers are co-branded with STEPN’s lightning bolt logo and Adidas’ three stripes and are minted on the Solana blockchain, making each pair unique.

The partnership between STEPN and adidas is the first step in a year-long collaboration that will include both physical items and digital products. According to Shiti Manghani, CEO of STEPN by FSL, the goal of the collaboration is to excite the Web3 communities of both brands and encourage people to be active. The integration will extend to the apps of both brands, with a focus on motivating and incentivizing people to run.

The STEPN x adidas Genesis Sneakers collection will be sold on the MOOAR marketplace and priced at 10k in STEPN’s native GMT token, equivalent to around $3000. The collection will be distributed via a two-phase raffle, with 200 NFTs released to an allow list including members of the ALTS by adidas Web3 community and eligible members of the FSL community. The public sale will run from April 18-21.

The collaboration between STEPN and adidas follows previous partnerships with Steve Aoki’s AoK1Verse ecosystem and adidas Originals teamed up with BAPE on a limited edition sneaker collaboration paired with a digital twin NFT version. Manghani emphasized the long-term nature of the partnership, aiming to create a sustainable collaboration that is meaningful for both communities. The goal is to combine Web3 technology with the gaming and wellness industries to create a unique and engaging experience for users.

Launched in 2021, STEPN has grown to five million registered users, positioning it as one of the top lifestyle rewards apps globally. The platform’s integration of Web3 technology with the gaming industry and wellness industry has proven successful, with NFTs playing a key role in gameplay. The STEPN x adidas Genesis Sneakers collection represents a shift in how NFTs are viewed, moving beyond collectibles to become an integral part of gameplay, offering players strategic advantages based on different attributes.
