Sean “Diddy” Combs is facing legal pushback against a woman’s lawsuit that accused him of sexual assault. Lawyers for Combs filed a motion to dismiss some claims that were not under law when the alleged incident occurred in 1991. The motion seeks to dismiss statutes from the woman’s claims such as revenge porn and human trafficking with prejudice. The lawsuit alleges that Combs drugged and sexually assaulted the woman, videotaping the assault and sharing it with friends in the music industry. Combs denies these allegations and accuses the woman of exploiting New York law to extend the statute of limitations.

Despite denying the allegations, Combs and his attorneys strongly oppose the accusations made in the lawsuit. The claim was made nearly three decades after the alleged misconduct, and certain laws referenced in the lawsuit were not in place at the time of the incident. The New York State Revenge Porn Law was only codified in 2019, and other laws mentioned, such as the New York Services for Victims of Human Trafficking Law, came into effect in 2007. The case is part of an ongoing legal battle for Combs, who has been the defendant in several recent sexual abuse lawsuits.

In a recent development, federal authorities raided Combs’ properties in Los Angeles and Miami as part of a sex trafficking investigation. This criminal investigation represents a significant escalation in the scrutiny of Combs, who has faced multiple allegations of sexual abuse in recent lawsuits. In one case, Combs settled a lawsuit filed by his former protege and girlfriend, R&B singer Cassie, who accused him of years of sexual abuse, including rape. The lawsuit alleged that Combs forced her to have sex with male prostitutes while filming them. Another lawsuit filed by a music producer claimed that Combs coerced him to solicit prostitutes and pressured him to have sex with them.

One of Combs’ accusers, a woman who said he raped her when she was 17, has also come forward with allegations. Despite the mounting legal challenges, Combs and his attorneys have firmly denied all the allegations made against him in the various lawsuits. The case involving Joi Dickerson-Neal highlights the complexities of historical sexual assault allegations and the intersection of changing laws with regard to prosecuting such cases. The ongoing legal battles and investigations surrounding Combs continue to draw attention and raise questions about accountability and justice in cases of alleged sexual misconduct.
