Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reported that Russia fired more than 40 missiles and 40 drones at Ukraine overnight, targeting critical infrastructure throughout the country. Kharkiv was hit once again, with missiles and drones being shot down, but some managing to cause damage. Other cities such as Kyiv, Zaporizhzhia, Odesa, and Lviv were also targeted, resulting in damage to critical infrastructure.

The attacks on Ukraine’s energy facilities have been ongoing over the past months, with Russia launching some of its biggest aerial strikes in recent times. Zelensky urged Ukraine’s Western partners to provide more air defence systems to help protect against Russian aggression. Hundreds of rescuers were deployed to different sites across the country following the massive shelling, but fortunately, there were no deaths or injuries reported despite the destruction caused.

Moscow launched more than 10 missiles at Kharkiv, leaving parts of the city without electricity. The mayor of Kharkiv warned of potential energy supply problems, while other regions like Zaporizhzhia and Lviv also experienced attacks on their infrastructure. Russia claimed to have destroyed 12 Ukrainian drones overnight, with some reaching as far east as the Mordovia republic and others being taken down in various regions within Russia where they were attacking.

Zelensky and other Ukrainian officials have called for support from Western allies to help defend against Russia’s attacks.
