Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been living in the United States for the past four years with their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. The Duke of Sussex recently changed his country of residence from the UK to the US on official documents related to his eco-tourism organization, Travalyst, suggesting that he no longer views the UK as his home. Last year, the couple was forced to give up their UK home, Frogmore Cottage, leaving them with no permanent base in Britain.

Harry’s change of country of residence was backdated to June 29, 2023, just before they handed back the keys to Frogmore Cottage. Despite having made fleeting visits back to the UK, Harry has expressed that America feels like home to him now. He recently lost a High Court challenge over a decision to change the level of his personal security when he visits the UK, citing concerns over safety without police protection. Despite this, he remains involved in Travalyst and recently urged the travel industry to do more for local communities during an annual general meeting.

Travalyst, a sustainable tourism project co-founded by Harry in 2019, faced controversy last year when Harry was not prominently mentioned in its revamp announcement. However, the CEO of Travalyst clarified that Harry remains an invaluable part of the organization and is regularly involved in strategic discussions and decisions. The project aims to make tourism and travel more eco-friendly by bringing major travel firms together. Despite Harry’s occasional use of private jets, he continues to advocate for eco-friendly travel practices.

While Harry has made it clear that America is his current home, he is expected to return to the UK next month to mark 10 years of his Invictus Games. Despite facing challenges like losing his initial bid to appeal for higher personal security in the UK, Harry remains committed to his charitable work and advocacy for sustainable travel practices. Despite the distance from the UK, Harry continues to make appearances at events related to his various projects and initiatives, showing his continued dedication to using his platform for positive change.
