More than a year after Jessica Zrinski was last seen getting into a blue Holden Commodore with a stranger in a Sydney pub, homicide detectives have launched a new search in the Blue Mountains forest for any sign of the missing woman. The 30-year-old Jessica was seen at a pub in Greenfield Park in Sydney’s south-west just after 10pm in November 2022. CCTV footage shows Jessica in the passenger seat of the car at a petrol station in Mount Victoria the next morning with no signs of distress. The driver of the Commodore was spoken to by police in January last year but was unable to assist with the investigation.
Despite the efforts of police, no sign of Jessica has been uncovered in the over a year since her disappearance. A tree branch wedged in the passenger side door of the Commodore suggested that the car may have gone off-road at some point. Now, a new search is being conducted in the Jenolan State Forest, 13 kilometres north of the Jenolan Caves in the Blue Mountains. The three-day search involves the police dog squad, the bomb rescue and disposal squad, and other volunteers. A previous three-day search in the nearby Hampton State Forest last year did not yield any results.
Jessica’s father, Dark Zrinski, expressed his heartbreak over the situation, saying that not knowing what happened to his daughter is agonizing. He described Jessica as a free-spirited individual who was always full of life and joy. The investigation into Jessica’s disappearance has been ongoing, with the case now under the jurisdiction of the homicide squad. The driver of the Holden Commodore remains a person of interest in the case, but no significant leads have emerged despite forensic examination of the vehicle.
