OKX has recently launched the X Layer public mainnet in partnership with Polygon. This network is designed to make Ethereum-based transactions faster and more cost-effective for OKX’s 50 million users. The Layer-2 network uses Zero Knowledge (ZK) for security and is built using the Polygon Chain Development Kit (CDK). The platform facilitates shared state and liquidity across various chains through the AggLayer. The ZK proofs employed by X Layer ensure scalability and reduced costs for transactions. Additionally, its compatibility with Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) allows for easy deployment of Ethereum-based decentralized apps (dApps) with minimal development effort.

X Layer has seen rapid adoption since its beta unveiling in November 2023, with over 50 web3 dApps deploying on the platform within the first week of its testnet launch. Major applications such as The Graph, Curve, LayerZero, QuickSwap, Galxe, and Timeswap have all been building on the network, enhancing its utility and reach. Globally, users can now utilize the X Layer network for asset transfers, crypto deposits and withdrawals via OKX, and access to a suite of over 170 dApps that enable swapping, staking, and smart contract interactions. The innovative developer community behind X Layer is seen as a monumental step towards building a unified Web3 ecosystem.

OKX Chief Marketing Officer Haider Rafique stated, “X Layer is for visionary builders who are creating applications to help bring millions of people on-chain.” The platform is envisioned to be the highway infrastructure of the Web3 world, with dApps serving as marketplaces and self-hosted wallets as the vehicles to take users there. Polygon CEO Marc Boiron commented on the X Layer network’s connection to the AggLayer, solving the fragmentation of liquidity and users across chains on the AggLayer. Boiron also praised the impressive roster of talented developers building on X Layer, highlighting the network’s potential for collaboration and shared goals with OKX.

The X Layer network is now accessible to everyone, not just developers, with +200 dApps currently building on the platform. Users can experience the power and security of the zkEVM L2 network firsthand. The platform’s focus on security, scalability, and cost-effectiveness for transactions is aimed at creating a more efficient ecosystem for the transfer of assets and the development of decentralized applications. The network’s integration with the AggLayer and its support for various chains make it a crucial player in the industry’s ambition to build a unified Web3 ecosystem.
