Kevin Lavelle died following an argument with a group of Welsh railway workers in a pub in Oxfordshire on June 25, 2004, and no one has ever been convicted of his killing. He sustained fifty injuries to his body when he was repeatedly beaten with a dumbbell. A trial in 2006 of Ceri Noble, one of the Welsh rail workers, collapsed as members of the group refused to reveal who had delivered the fatal blows. DNA evidence found on the murder weapon could not conclusively identify the perpetrator.
