Mica Miller, the wife of a South Carolina pastor, was found dead at Lumber River State Park, with her death later being ruled as a suicide by the Robeson County Medical Examiner. Before her death, she had served divorce papers to her husband Pastor John Paul Miller, and had told her sister that if she was ever found dead in the same manner as she was, her husband was responsible. She had also reportedly spoken about being abused by her husband to family and other church members.

Miller’s brother and sister provided affidavits detailing instances of abuse and stalking leading up to her death. She had discovered a tracking device on her car and had her tires slashed multiple times. John Paul Miller had confessed and apologized for the tire slashing, stating that he gets angry when Mica prioritizes her family over him, and that he attacks and tries to cause pain instead of forgiving. Police reports also detailed instances of stalking, with Miller expressing fear for her life due to the suspect’s actions.

In some of her last Facebook posts, Miller spoke out in support of abuse survivors and hinted at the struggles she was facing. Her husband claimed that she suffered from mental health disorders and did not always take her medication, stating that she had previously attempted to take her own life and had been hospitalized for mental treatment multiple times. Despite this, he had been supportive of her during these incidents, claiming that he had taken her to the hospital himself.

Despite claims of mental health issues, Miller’s sister mentioned that Mica was looking towards the future and planning to move to Kenya for missionary work after the divorce. The family is seeking justice for Miller and a full investigation into her death. The pastor has since been released from his ministerial duties at his church, Solid Rock.
