A 46-year-old man, Charles Erby Jr., has been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a minor in Rockville, Maryland. The incident occurred last Wednesday in a wooded area off Veirs Mill Road after Erby followed the juvenile off a Metrobus. The victim felt uncomfortable with Erby’s advances and decided to get off the bus at Veirs Mill Road and Aspen Hill. Erby then followed her into the woods behind a soccer field, where the assault took place. Montgomery County Police were able to quickly identify Erby as the suspect and arrested him in D.C. last Friday. Detectives are concerned that there may be more victims who have not come forward and are asking for the public’s help in providing information about Erby’s actions and whereabouts.

Sergeant Robert Rollins of MCPD’s Special Victims Investigations Division & Child Exploitation unit stated that Erby was known to travel frequently between D.C. and Maryland and likely used the metro system often. This leads detectives to believe that this may not have been his first offense. They are urging anyone who may have seen or interacted with Erby to come forward and provide any information that may aid in their investigation. Authorities are concerned that there could be additional victims who have not yet spoken to police, and they want to ensure that anyone who may have been victimized comes forward to receive the help and support they need.
