Rapper Macklemore has decided not to vote for President Biden in the 2024 general election due to Biden’s support for Israel’s war against Hamas. He released a song titled “Hind’s Hall” on Instagram, expressing his strong support for anti-Israel protesters. The title of the song refers to Columbia University’s Hamilton Hall, where protesters occupied the building in honor of a 6-year-old Palestinian girl killed in the conflict.

The song features clips of various politicians, including Sen. Mitch McConnell and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Supporters of the anti-Israel protests praised Macklemore’s new song, thanking him for his support. However, some were critical of the tune, calling it a collection of buzzwords and criticizing the lack of references to Hamas, the terror group responsible for attacks on Israel.

Macklemore announced that all proceeds from the song will go towards the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA). The agency has faced allegations that some of its employees were involved in the Hamas terror attack on Israel. This has led to a temporary pause in funding from donor countries, including the US. The song comes at a time when President Biden has faced protest votes in several states over his handling of the conflict in Gaza.

In Michigan, Minnesota, and Wisconsin, significant numbers of uncommitted or uninstructed ballots were cast in the states’ Democratic primaries as a protest against President Biden’s response to the conflict. Macklemore’s decision to publicize his refusal to vote for Biden based on his support for Israel’s actions has sparked debate and divided opinions among listeners. Despite the controversy, the rapper remains firm in his stance and plans to donate the song’s proceeds to UNRWA.
