LG has made a major announcement, becoming the first brand to offer support for Apple’s Spatial Audio with Dolby Atmos format on their TVs. This feature will be available on LG TVs running the webOS 4.0 smart platform or higher, including OLED models released as far back as 2018 and QNED LCD TV models from the Q90T series and above. Even recently released StanbyME, StanbyME Go, and MyView Smart Monitor lifestyle screens will support this feature.

The update to bring Apple Spatial Audio with Dolby Atmos support to LG TVs is scheduled to roll out this week. This means that compatible LG TVs may already have received the update without users even noticing it. Apple Spatial Audio with Dolby Atmos is designed to provide a more immersive and expansive listening experience. The Spatial Audio component creates a multi-dimensional effect that improves clarity and depth, making the listener feel like they are at the heart of the sound. Dolby Atmos creates a three-dimensional sound scape that places sound effects in the space around the listener.

With this new feature, LG TVs will automatically play Dolby Atmos tracks in surround format using their built-in speaker systems. For LG Smart TVs that do not support Dolby Atmos playback, users can still enjoy the experience by connecting a compatible Dolby Atmos soundbar or by connecting directly to Apple AirPods or other Apple devices via Bluetooth. The support even includes a loudness normalization algorithm to prevent sudden jumps in volume when switching to Dolby Atmos tracks.

To celebrate the collaboration with Apple Music, LG is offering three months of free Apple Music subscription to LG Smart TV users worldwide. This offer can be accessed through the Apple Music app on compatible LG Smart TVs. While there is no information on how long this exclusive support will last, it is a significant achievement for LG and highlights the popularity of its webOS smart platform.

LG’s latest move to support Apple’s Spatial Audio with Dolby Atmos format on their TVs showcases the brand’s commitment to innovation and enhancing the user experience. By offering this feature on a wide range of LG TVs, including models released as far back as 2018, the company is ensuring that more consumers can access this immersive audio experience. This partnership with Apple Music also demonstrates LG’s dedication to providing added value to their customers through exclusive offers and features.
