Alex Perez stepped up on short notice and quickly defeated Matheus Nicolau in the main event of UFC Vegas 91. Perez dominated the fight, setting the tone with pressure in the first round and sealing the victory with a right cross that knocked out Nicolau in the second frame. Originally, Manel Kape was scheduled to fight Nicolau, but Perez took advantage of the opportunity and secured the win, earning one of the $50,000 Fight Night bonuses.

The victory for Perez was a significant comeback after his loss to Mohammed Mokaev in March, marking his first win since defeating Jussier Formiga in June 2020 with leg kicks. In addition to Perez’s highlight victory, there were three other fighters who received Fight Night bonuses for their impressive performances in the octagon. Uros Medic earned a KO win over Tim Means, Jhonata Diniz secured a KO win over Austen Lane, and Bogdan Guskov achieved a TKO win over Ryan Spann.

Medic’s victory over Means was a highlight of the main card, as he delivered a well-placed uppercut that ended the fight in spectacular fashion. Diniz also put on an impressive display, overwhelming Lane with a relentless combination that led to the finish. Guskov rebounded from a tough first round against Spann to score a TKO win, surviving a near-finish in the first round before ending the fight with a powerful uppercut in the second round.

Despite not being ranked, Medic called out Ian Machado Garry after his fight, although a matchup between the two is unlikely at this time. Garry is currently ranked No. 7 and focused on pursuing Colby Covington, making a fight with Medic improbable in the near future. Guskov’s victory over Spann was a highlight of the co-main event, as he weathered a difficult first round before turning the tide and finishing the fight with ground and pound.

Looking ahead, the UFC will head to Brazil for UFC 301, featuring Jose Aldo facing Jonathan Martinez in what could potentially be the future Hall-of-Famer’s final fight in the promotion. In the main event, Alexandre Pantoja is set to defend his UFC Flyweight title against Steve Erceg. With exciting matchups on the horizon, fans can expect intense action and compelling storylines as fighters continue to showcase their skills in the octagon. Be sure to stay tuned for more coverage as the fighters prepare for battle in the upcoming event.
