Jeezy, a rapper, recently provided an update on how he is handling his ongoing divorce from Jeannie Mai, a television personality. Mai accused Jeezy of leaving a potentially dangerous assault rifle unsecured in their home, which their 2-year-old daughter found. In response, Jeezy posted on Instagram stating that he is “Surviving and Thriving.” The couple has been embroiled in a series of allegations, with Mai accusing Jeezy of hiding dangerous firearms in their home and of physically and verbally abusing her.

Court documents revealed that Mai had accused Jeezy of hiding firearms throughout their home that were easily accessible and dangerous to their child. She also alleged instances of physical and verbal abuse, including an alleged incident where Jeezy choked her and pushed her down the stairs at a hotel in San Francisco. While Mai made these allegations, Jeezy denied them, calling them false and disturbing. He expressed his focus on being an active father to their daughter and fighting for court-mandated joint custody.

In his initial filings, Jeezy had requested full custody of their daughter, citing Mai’s chaotic schedule as a reason. However, he later withdrew this request in favor of joint custody. The couple had also exchanged accusations of “gatekeeping,” with Jeezy claiming Mai was keeping their daughter from him, while Mai argued that she was prioritizing her daughter’s safety by insisting on safety measures such as securely storing firearms and having trained caregivers for the child. Jeezy filed for divorce in September 2023, citing an irretrievably broken partnership.

Following their divorce filing, a source close to Mai revealed that she was devastated by the split and wanted her family unit back. Jeezy later released a statement expressing his respect and love for Jeannie despite the separation, stating that the decision was not made impulsively and came with a heavy heart. He also emphasized his commitment to ensuring their daughter feels loved and stable amid the separation. Jeezy and Mai tied the knot in March 2021 after three years of dating and welcomed their daughter in January 2022.
