A homeless man named Anthony Jones attacked two women in California, leaving one briefly unconscious and the other in a coma. Mary Klein, aged 54, was attacked by Jones while taking her nightly walk at the canals in Venice, California. He ambushed her from behind, knocking her unconscious and causing injuries, including knocking out two front teeth. Another woman was attacked by Jones an hour later, leaving her in a coma. Klein suffered from injuries such as a broken jaw, broken teeth, a large gash on the back of her head, contusions, and bruises on her face and neck, requiring multiple surgeries and physical therapy.

Klein managed to wake up after the attack, though the attacker was already gone. She went home and later discovered the extent of her injuries, including a severe head injury with a bad bleed. The attack has left her with significant injuries that required facial reconstruction surgery and other medical treatments. She expressed concern for the other victim who was left in a coma after the attack and hopes for her recovery. Jones was arrested and charged with two counts of attempted murder and is being held on a $3.25 million bail at the LAPD Metropolitan Detention Center.

Jones is believed to be homeless, and police think that both attacks were random in nature. Both attacks reportedly had a “sexual element” to them, although it is unclear what that refers to. Klein, who is a home healthcare nurse, called on local officials to prioritize addressing mental health, drug abuse, and homelessness issues in the community. She expressed hope that Jones would receive a life sentence in prison for his violent actions toward her and the other victim. She had to undergo multiple surgeries and physical therapy to recover from the injuries sustained in the attack.

Despite the severity of the attack, Klein is now up and walking after the incident and is undergoing treatment for her injuries. She had to have her jaw wired shut and underwent facial reconstruction to address the damage done by Jones during the assault. She expressed gratitude for surviving the attack and sympathy for the other victim who is still in a coma due to the injuries inflicted by the assailant. Klein’s family has set up a GoFundMe campaign to help cover the costs of her medical treatment and recovery process following the traumatic attack by Jones.

Klein’s walking routine turned into a traumatic experience after being attacked by Jones, who was later arrested by the police. The attack left her with significant injuries that required extensive medical treatment, including multiple surgeries and physical therapy. Jones has been charged with attempted murder for the attacks on Klein and the other woman. The community has rallied around Klein, supporting her during her recovery process and expressing concern for both victims affected by the random and violent attacks in California. Klein is calling for mental health, drug abuse, and homelessness issues to be prioritized by local officials to prevent similar incidents in the future.
