Jason Gaudreault fondly remembers his partner of four years, Tatjana Stefanski, as a beautiful soul filled with pure love. However, Stefanski’s life was tragically cut short last month when she became the victim of a homicide. Gaudreault, still grieving, has not been able to properly mourn as he deals with legal matters surrounding the case. Stefanski was last seen on April 13 with her ex-husband, and her body was found the next day on the outskirts of town. A man was arrested in the area but was released shortly afterward, leading to fears and concerns for Gaudreault and Stefanski’s two children.

Despite the arrest, no charges have been laid, and no suspect has been named in Stefanski’s murder. Gaudreault is critical of the catch-and-release policies in place, feeling that they are failing the victims. He and Stefanski’s children are currently living in fear and in hiding, constantly switching locations to remain safe. Gaudreault has had to shut down his home-based business, causing financial strain as the family’s only source of income is disrupted by the ongoing situation. Lumby’s mayor has also expressed frustration with the system, noting that it is completely failing in this case.

Determined to seek justice for his slain partner, Gaudreault is fighting for an improved system in honor of Stefanski. He believes that laws need to change to better support victims and ensure that situations like this do not happen again. A Facebook page called Justice For Tatjana has been created to advocate for change, and Gaudreault encourages the public to share their story, join the cause, and support the movement for justice. He hopes to create a wave of pressure on Parliament to make the necessary changes to prevent victims from suffering in the future.

As Gaudreault pushes for change, he remembers Stefanski as a vibrant woman who loved life and had a profound impact on those around her. He reflects on her aura and presence by his side, which he now deeply misses. Despite the challenges he faces in seeking justice for Stefanski, Gaudreault remains determined to honor her memory and fight for a system that better protects victims and holds perpetrators accountable. He hopes that by sharing their story and rallying support, they can bring about meaningful change that will prevent others from experiencing the pain and fear that they have had to endure.
