A highly anticipated UFC bantamweight bout between Cory Sandhagen and Umar Nurmagomedov has been rescheduled to take place on August 3, 2024, at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi. Originally slated for August 2023 in Nashville, Tennessee, the fight was postponed due to a shoulder injury sustained by Nurmagomedov. Sandhagen went on to defeat Rob Font in a unanimous decision in the headlining bout of that event but has not competed since. Nurmagomedov, on the other hand, is coming off a dominant unanimous decision win over Bekzat Almakhan at UFC Vegas 87 in March.

Sandhagen, currently ranked No. 2 in the official UFC bantamweight rankings, holds a record of 17-4 and is on a three-fight winning streak since his loss to Petr Yan in October 2021. Yan claimed the interim UFC bantamweight title with a unanimous decision win in their matchup. Sandhagen has been a UFC fighter since January 2018 and has amassed a 10-3 record with the promotion. Nurmagomedov, on the other hand, boasts a perfect 17-0 record and is the No. 9 fighter in the UFC’s 135-pound rankings. Fighting out of Dagestan, Nurmagomedov joined the UFC in 2021 and has garnered a five-fight winning streak.

As of now, no other fights have been announced for the UFC Fight Night: Abu Dhabi card where Sandhagen and Nurmagomedov will face off. The event is sure to draw a significant amount of attention from MMA fans, given the impressive records and skill sets of both fighters. UFC fans can expect a thrilling matchup between two of the top contenders in the bantamweight division. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting event as additional details are released.
