Henyard has faced condemnation by both Dolton residents and residents of the Thornton township, where she has appealed to racial politics, accusing her critics of attacking a Black woman in power.
Henyard, who lives a lavish lifestyle with a salary of nearly $300,000, has drawn attention for her frequent use of beauty vendors despite the low median income of the Illinois town’s residents. She insists that “God chose me” and met with President Biden in January. Despite her high-profile meetings and claims of being chosen by a higher power, her alleged misdeeds and controversies are beginning to catch up with her. Dolton trustee Tammie Brown expressed excitement over the FBI’s investigation, stating that they had been urging for an investigation for months.
