Christopher Gregor, a New Jersey father, is on trial for allegedly killing his 6-year-old son, Corey Micciolo, in 2021. A disturbing new video was shown in court, revealing the alleged child abuse that took place. The video showed Gregor forcing Micciolo to run on a treadmill because he believed the child was “too fat.” The boy fell off multiple times due to the excessive speed of the exercise machine, causing him to struggle to stay on.

The surveillance footage captured Gregor and his son entering the Atlantic Heights Clubhouse fitness center on March 20, 2021. The video showed Gregor increasing the speed and raise the incline of the treadmill, making it difficult for the child to keep up. Despite the boy’s struggles, Gregor continued to force him to run on the treadmill. At one point, Gregor lifted his son and tossed him back onto the moving track, causing the child to fall and slide off again.

The boy’s mother, Bre Micciolo, was the first witness to take the stand during the trial. She was in tears as she watched the horrific video of the abuse her son suffered. Days before Corey’s death, Bre had reported the boy’s injuries to the New Jersey Division of Child Protection and Permanency. She requested Gregor to take their son to see a doctor on April 1, where Corey revealed that his father made him run on the treadmill because he was deemed “too fat.”

After the doctor’s appointment, Corey experienced symptoms such as stumbling, slurring his words, and shortness of breath. He was rushed to the hospital the next day after suffering a seizure during a CT scan. Despite medical staff’s efforts to save him, Corey passed away. An initial autopsy revealed that the boy died from blunt force injuries with cardiac and liver contusions, acute inflammation, and sepsis. Gregor was arrested in July 2021 on child neglect charges after surveillance footage from the fitness center was reviewed.

In September 2021, a forensic pathologist determined Corey Micciolo’s death to be a homicide as he had suffered chronic abuse, including blunt impact injuries on his chest and abdomen. Dr. Thomas Andrew stated that Corey had an acute traumatic injury to the heart 4-12 hours before his death. Gregor was arrested on March 9, 2022, for his son’s death. He rejected a 30-year plea deal and is currently held in the Ocean City Jail without bond, awaiting the outcome of the trial. The disturbing video evidence brought forth in court sheds light on the tragic abuse that led to the death of young Corey Micciolo.
