Jennifer Ruziscka, a 50-year-old high school English teacher in the Springfield Local School District in Ohio, resigned from her position after her OnlyFans account was discovered by school officials. Ruziscka had been working in the district for nearly 30 years as a teacher, cheerleading coach, and yearbook advisor. The teacher, known on the subscription sites OnlyFans and Fansly as “Jenniferssecrets,” faced disciplinary action for violating the district’s teaching license conduct and technology policies.

Superintendent Matt Geha launched an investigation into Ruziscka, leading to her administrative leave on January 29, 2024, and her resignation two days later. The investigation involved photos of Ruziscka wearing lingerie from her subscription sites, which offered three different levels of access ranging in price from $25 to $99. Ruziscka defended her side hustle by quoting Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliet” and emphasized her dedication as an educator in the district despite her adult content activities.

After resigning from her teaching position, Ruziscka obtained a new job as a 7-12 grade ELA tutor for an online learning platform. However, she was not the only teacher to face consequences for their adult content side hustles. In a similar incident, Missouri teacher Brianna Coppage resigned from her teaching position after her OnlyFans account with her husband was discovered. Coppage was employed only briefly as a community support specialist before being fired due to her adult content.

This trend of teachers losing their jobs due to their involvement in adult content side hustles raises questions about the intersection of personal life and professional conduct. Ruziscka believes that her exemplary work ethic as an educator should be considered separately from her activities on the subscription sites. Despite the recognition and accolades she has earned over the years, the district chose to take action against her for conduct deemed unbecoming of a professional educator.

The incident involving Ruziscka highlights the challenges faced by educators in maintaining a balance between their personal lives and professional responsibilities. As more teachers are discovered to have adult content side hustles, school districts may need to establish more explicit guidelines on what is considered acceptable behavior for teachers outside of the classroom. Ultimately, these cases serve as a reminder of the complex nature of professional conduct and the potential consequences that can arise from engaging in activities deemed inappropriate by employers.
