One of the British Virgin Islands was purchased by Richard Branson for a mere $120,000 in 1979. Branson’s Necker Island is now available for rent at $118,500 per night through One Fine Stay. The luxurious tropical oasis has played host to many A-list guests over the years, including Princess Diana, Barack and Michelle Obama, Harry Styles, and Oprah Winfrey, among others. The 74-acre island can accommodate up to 47 guests, who will stay in the central Great House featuring 17 bedrooms and 24 bathrooms, with stunning views of the white sandy beaches and the Caribbean Sea.

Guests at Necker Island can enjoy a range of amenities, including open-air living spaces, a private gym, a wellness center offering spa treatments, and two tennis courts. The estate features a massive infinity pool, outdoor bars, and cabanas, providing opportunities for relaxation and recreation. Meals can be enjoyed at a sushi bar by the pool or beachside, with the cuisine changing daily, while the property operates sustainably with measures like renewable energy sources and biofuel golf buggies. Guests can also explore the coral reef through on-site snorkeling and participate in various water sports like kitesurfing, sailing, diving, and paddleboarding.

The stay on Necker Island offers additional activities such as guided walks to see lemurs and flamingos, helicopter excursions, and deep-sea fishing. Visitors can also choose to rent out neighboring Moskito Island, which can accommodate 22 guests. The vacation experience is fully looked after by a dedicated staff, including a concierge, private chef, housekeeper, bartender, tennis pro, boat captain, and activities staff. Branson revealed that he purchased Necker Island to impress his now-wife, Joan Templeman, and the couple eventually married in 1989 and had three children.

The island is truly a luxurious retreat, offering guests a unique and exclusive experience in a tropical paradise surrounded by the beauty of the Caribbean Sea. The expansive property provides a range of recreational activities, gourmet dining options, and personalized service to ensure a memorable stay for those lucky enough to afford it. From relaxing by the infinity pool to exploring the coral reef, there is no shortage of things to do on Necker Island. With its stunning accommodations and breathtaking views, it is no wonder that Branson’s private island has become a sought-after destination for the rich and famous. Whether guests are seeking relaxation, adventure, or a taste of luxury, Necker Island offers an unparalleled experience that sets it apart from other vacation destinations.
