However, strange incidents began occurring once Hildebrandt moved in, including lights turning on and off and unexplained sounds. Ruby eventually asked Kevin for an in-home separation, restricting his movements in the house.
Ruby and Hildebrandt, along with their friends, discussed visions they were having during their time together. Ruby expressed her desire to work on a project with Hildebrandt, giving up her successful blogging career to do so. Kevin was asked by Ruby to leave their home in July 2022, leading to a period of intense isolation for him. Their separation was difficult for Kevin, who was then unaware of the abuse his children were experiencing at the hands of Ruby and Hildebrandt. Ruby’s journal entries reveal disturbing thoughts and actions towards her own children, with mentions of punishment and manipulation.
The abuse inflicted by Ruby and Hildebrandt on Ruby’s youngest children included physical labor, restriction of food, and emotional harm. The children were made to feel evil and deserving of punishment. Following the rescue of the youngest children, authorities located the other four kids at a different location. Kevin expressed shock and disbelief at the revelations of the abuse, as he had not been in contact with his children for over a year prior to the arrests of Ruby and Hildebrandt.
