Khan Gorgulu, a drug gang boss, was caught after he sent a selfie taken at the dentist to his crime partner. The police used this photo to identify him and prove his involvement in selling cocaine and cannabis in Alderley Edge. Gorgulu was sentenced to six years and six months in prison after being found guilty of planning to sell class A and B drugs. His partner, Giovanni Spada, was also sentenced to six years in prison for similar charges. The police investigation revealed that Gorgulu and Spada were leaders of a Crime Group, buying drugs from various sources and distributing them in Cheshire.

Cheshire Police began investigating the drug trade in January 2021, uncovering a network of dealers operating in Alderley Edge and nearby areas. Spada and Gorgulu were found to be key figures in this operation, selling drugs acquired from Rochdale, Essex, and Wales. They were also involved in preparing drugs for sale, including mixing cocaine to increase profits. Financial records indicated that both Gorgulu and Spada made significant amounts of money from their illegal activities, with Spada receiving over £47,000 and Gorgulu over £33,000 in payments over two years.

The police arrested Spada in January 2021, leading to the discovery of a large quantity of cash, cannabis, and cocaine at a house in Alderley Edge. Further investigation revealed evidence of drug dealing, including lists used by the gang to track transactions and messages on mobile phones related to drug sales. Gorgulu had used a fake name to avoid detection but inadvertently sent a selfie to Spada, which enabled the police to identify him. Both Spada and Gorgulu were charged with drug-related offenses and sentenced to prison, with the police seizing illegal drugs and dismantling their operation.

Police Constable Sam Needham praised the investigation’s success in stopping illegal drug activities and bringing Gorgulu and Spada to justice. He emphasized the importance of community cooperation in reporting suspicious activities and urged residents to contact the police if they had concerns about drug-related crimes in their area. The case highlighted the risks of drug trafficking and the consequences of engaging in criminal activities. The significant sentences imposed on Gorgulu and Spada served as a deterrent to others involved in drug dealing and reinforced law enforcement efforts to combat drug-related crimes.
