Country music star Morgan Wallen’s initial hearing, in which he is accused of throwing a chair from a rooftop bar and nearly hitting two police officers, was postponed until August. Wallen’s attorney, Worrick Robinson, stated that the case is complicated and that Wallen would be present at the rescheduled hearing on August 15. The singer has been charged with three felony counts of reckless endangerment and one misdemeanor count of disorderly conduct.

Despite the allegations, Robinson did not confirm whether Wallen threw the chair and instead referenced a statement in which Wallen accepted responsibility for his actions. The statement did not include an apology but mentioned making amends and touching base with law enforcement. Wallen, known for hits like “Last Night” and “Thinkin’ Bout Me,” is currently on a stadium tour and performing in Nashville for three nights. In 2021, Wallen was suspended from his label after a video surfaced of him using a racial slur.

Wallen’s latest album, “One Thing at a Time,” spent 16 weeks at the top of the Billboard 200 in 2023 and was the most-consumed album in the U.S. last year. Despite his success, Wallen has faced previous legal issues, including a 2020 arrest for public intoxication and disorderly conduct after being kicked out of Kid Rock’s bar in Nashville. The singer’s behavior has drawn criticism in the past, including from industry executives and fans.

The incident involving Wallen throwing a chair from the rooftop of Chief’s bar on April 7 resulted in the charges he is currently facing. Witnesses reported seeing Wallen pick up a chair, throw it off the roof, and laugh about it. The chair landed close to the police officers, prompting the investigation. Wallen’s attorney emphasized the importance of resolving the case in a manner that everyone involved can agree on.

Despite the legal troubles, Wallen’s career has been marked by success, with numerous chart-topping hits and a dedicated fan base in the country music industry. The postponement of his hearing until August allows more time for the legal process to unfold and for Wallen to address the allegations against him. The singer’s actions and behavior will continue to be scrutinized as he navigates the consequences of his actions and works to make amends for his behavior.
