Comedian Lucy Beaumont was recently pictured arriving at her stand-up show in Cardiff after announcing her divorce from husband Jon Richardson. The couple, who had been married for nine years, announced their separation in a statement last Friday. Lucy was seen outside the Sherman Theatre in Cardiff, wearing a tan jacket and skinny jeans, with a WHSmith carrier bag. Jon, on the other hand, made his first solo appearance on Sunday at a family screening event in London.

Jon and Lucy stated that their separation was amicable and that their priority was their daughter. The couple starred in a mockumentary show called Meet The Richardsons where they played exaggerated versions of themselves and made comedic jibes at each other. The show had just begun its fifth series on Dave before the divorce announcement. The couple asked for privacy during this sensitive time to protect their daughter’s well-being. They began dating in 2013, got married in 2015, and welcomed their daughter in 2016.

Lucy made a foreboding comment about divorcing Jon during a TV appearance on Eight Out Of Ten Cats Does Countdown a year before they announced their split. She joked about not seeing their relationship lasting forever and referenced a song about just passing through. The couple frequently joked about their relationship when appearing on TV shows together. They also co-hosted a panel show called Jon & Lucy’s Odd Couples last year, featuring celebrity couples. Lucy was nominated for a BAFTA TV award in 2023 for her performance on Meet The Richardson.

The couple first met in 2013 through fellow comedian Roisin Conaty and hit it off right away. Lucy recalled their first meeting in her book, where she described feeling her heart racing as she was sure Jon knew she fancied him. Jon dropped her off at the train station after their first date, and an incident with his car led Lucy to question continuing their relationship. Despite this, they went on to date, get married, and start a family. Lucy’s book, Drinking Custard: Diary of a Confused Mum, details her experiences as a comedian and mother.

Throughout their relationship, Jon and Lucy shared their personal lives on TV shows and comedy projects. The couple’s separation announcement came after years of working together on various projects and making jokes about their relationship in public. The divorce statement emphasized their commitment to co-parenting their daughter and maintaining a respectful relationship despite their separation. It is clear that both Jon and Lucy are focused on their daughter’s well-being and are handling their divorce in a mature and amicable manner.
