A former general practitioner, accused of rape and sexual assault on multiple patients, has been sentenced to eleven years in prison by the criminal court of Châteauroux. The court also imposed a 10,000 euro fine on Jacques Olsina and issued a permanent ban on practicing medicine. The twenty-four victims were primarily women under guardianship. According to Sébastien Robin, one of the lawyers representing two of the plaintiffs, it is unclear if all the victims were present during the trial as investigators were unable to trace incidents prior to 2010-2011. The case was initiated following a report by a legal representative of one of the victims in 2020.

During their testimonies, the victims recounted instances of the former general practitioner touching their chest and genitals during medical examinations between December 2013 and December 2020. One of the women reported a rape, which investigators were able to confirm through a video recording. During searches at the medical office, investigators found compromising videos of patients filmed without their consent with a mobile phone during medical consultations. These videos were described as “particularly unbearable” by Sébastien Robin. The general practitioner would allegedly ask vulnerable patients to masturbate or assume explicit positions during consultations that were not necessary.

The attorney, Christel Jousse, expressed disgust at how the victims felt pressured to comply with the doctor’s requests due to his authority. Another lawyer, Alexia Augereau, noted that the victims needed to understand the doctor’s actions, but this understanding was not achieved. The accused admitted to the charges superficially, without delving into introspection. Defense lawyer Pascaline Courthes stated that the accused feels immense guilt, shame, and continues to struggle to understand his actions. The criminal court will review the victims’ requests for compensation on November 15.
