Bethenny Frankel revealed on her podcast that during her marriage to ex-husband Jason Hoppy, she felt pressured to have sex with him even when she didn’t want to. She described feeling like she was being forced and tortured into being intimate with him. Frankel mentioned that her lack of respect for him as a business partner contributed to her lack of desire for sex.

The couple got married in 2010 and had a daughter named Bryn shortly after. Frankel disclosed that although she wished they had waited longer before having a child, she did not regret having her daughter. However, she felt like she was being bullied and trapped in a suffocating relationship with Hoppy. A few years later, Frankel suffered a miscarriage when she got pregnant again, and she admitted feeling relieved not to have another child in their unhealthy marriage.

After the miscarriage, Frankel told Hoppy that she was relieved not to be bringing another child into their negative relationship. This conversation caused a rift between them, and Hoppy reacted angrily, moving out to a hotel for a few nights. This incident marked the beginning of the end of their marriage. Bethenny filed for divorce in January 2013, and the couple’s tumultuous legal battle lasted almost a decade before their divorce was finalized in January 2021.

Throughout the divorce proceedings, Frankel and Hoppy faced numerous challenges, including issues related to finances and custody of their daughter Bryn. Eventually, Frankel was granted full legal custody and primary residential custody of Bryn. The nightmarish divorce ordeal eventually came to an end in 2021, and a few months later, Frankel’s boyfriend Paul Bernon proposed to her. Despite the engagement, Frankel expressed hesitations about getting married again due to the trauma she experienced during her divorce from Hoppy.

Looking back on her marriage to Hoppy, Frankel discussed the difficulties she faced, including feeling pressured to have sex with him and the relief she felt after suffering a miscarriage. She recounted the toxic dynamics in their relationship, such as verbal altercations and Hoppy’s angry reactions to her decisions. Frankel’s story sheds light on the emotional toll of a toxic marriage and the challenges of co-parenting amidst a contentious divorce. Despite the hardships, she has come out stronger and is dedicated to prioritizing her own well-being and that of her daughter.
