A new documentary titled “Spacey Unmasked” is set to premiere in the U.K., featuring interviews surrounding the allegations of sexual harassment and abuse against actor Kevin Spacey. The documentary will air on Channel 4 over two nights, with promises to investigate Spacey’s conduct and why individuals have decided to speak out now. Spacey has consistently denied allegations of sexual misconduct, despite facing multiple legal cases in the past.

The premiere of the documentary comes less than a year after Spacey was acquitted in a U.K. court case involving sexual assault allegations. He has also been found not liable in other legal cases in New York and Nantucket. The documentary will showcase new interviews with 10 individuals, with nine of them sharing their experiences with Spacey for the first time. Incidents on the set of Spacey’s show “House of Cards” will also be discussed in the documentary, according to reports from Variety.

In response to the upcoming release of the documentary, Spacey took to X to criticize Channel 4 for their production, calling it a “desperate attempt for ratings.” He expressed his intention to respond to the allegations on X over the weekend, emphasizing that he has previously been exonerated when given the opportunity to defend himself in a proper forum. Spacey accused the network of not providing sufficient details on the allegations and not giving him a fair chance to defend himself.

The documentary has been picked up by Max, HBO’s streaming service in the United States, for viewing after its premiere on Channel 4. The release date for the documentary on Max has not yet been announced. The allegations against Spacey first emerged in 2017 when actor Anthony Rapp accused him of making a sexual advance when Rapp was 14 years old. Spacey apologized for his behavior but denied remembering the incident. He was later accused by multiple individuals of sexual misconduct, leading to legal battles and the termination of his contracts with various productions.

Spacey’s response to the allegations and the upcoming documentary has sparked criticism, particularly from the LGBTQ community. He was accused of using his statement denying the allegations to come out as gay, which some saw as fueling negative stereotypes connecting pedophilia with homosexuality. Celebrities and activists criticized Spacey for his actions, highlighting the importance of separating issues of sexual misconduct from LGBTQ identity. As the documentary premiere approaches, the public will be watching closely to see how Spacey addresses the allegations and the impact it may have on his reputation and career.
