The liquor license of an Indianapolis bar where a shooting occurred, resulting in one death and five injuries, has been revoked by Indiana officials. The Indiana Alcohol and Tobacco Commission made the unanimous decision to revoke the license of 11:11 Bar & Grille on the city’s far east side. The bar was operating under the permit of another establishment while it appealed the denial of its own permit. The shooting took place during the early hours of Sunday, with two off-duty police officers in full uniform present at the scene.

During a disturbance in the parking lot, both officers exchanged gunfire with at least one suspect. One officer was shot in the upper thigh and sustained a shoulder injury. The injured officer has since been released from the hospital. Four other individuals who were shot were taken to hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries. The victims included two 45-year-old men, a 42-year-old man, and a 33-year-old woman. Additionally, a man with injuries consistent with gunshot wounds arrived at a hospital and later died despite medical treatment.

The deceased individual has been identified as 37-year-old Dominique Lamonte Durham Sr. Attempts to reach the bar owners for comment were unsuccessful, as the voice mailbox was full and the owners did not respond to messages left by the media. The incident has raised concerns about security and safety at bars and other establishments, prompting authorities to take action against the bar’s liquor license. The community has been left shaken by the tragedy and is calling for stricter regulations and measures to prevent such incidents in the future.

There has been an outpouring of support for the victims and their families, with community members and local officials expressing condolences and solidarity. The incident reflects a broader issue of gun violence and public safety, highlighting the need for greater vigilance and prevention strategies. Officials are investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting and taking steps to ensure that similar incidents are avoided in the future. The revocation of the bar’s liquor license serves as a warning to other establishments to prioritize safety and security measures to protect patrons and employees.

In the aftermath of the shooting, there have been discussions about ways to address underlying issues such as access to firearms, conflict resolution, and mental health support. Community leaders are calling for a comprehensive approach to addressing violence in the area, including increased police presence, support for at-risk individuals, and efforts to reduce the availability of guns. The tragedy has sparked a conversation about the root causes of such incidents and the collective responsibility to create a safer and more inclusive community for all residents. As the investigation continues, authorities are focused on bringing those responsible to justice and implementing measures to prevent future violence.
