Prince Nikolaos and Princess Tatiana of Greece have announced their decision to end their marriage after 13 years. The announcement was made on the website of the former royal family of Greece on April 19. Despite the difficulty of their decision, the couple expressed deep appreciation, respect, and love for each other. They stated that the values of respect and understanding would continue to be the basis of their relationship, which will now be one of deep and sincere friendship. Both Prince Nikolaos and Princess Tatiana will continue to live and be active in Greece, the place they both consider home.

The news of the divorce comes just weeks after Prince Nikolaos and Princess Tatiana appeared together at a thanksgiving service for King Constantine, Nikolaos’ father and the last king of Greece. The service took place at St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle on Feb. 27, 2024. Members of the Greek and British royal families gathered to honor King Constantine. Notably, Prince William made a last-minute decision to drop out of the ceremony to support his godfather, who had passed away in 2023. This decision was later revealed to be due to Kate Middleton’s cancer diagnosis.

Prince Nikolaos and Princess Tatiana of Greece were married in August 2010 at the Cathedral of Ayios Nikolaos on the island of Spetses in Greece. The bride wore the Antique Corsage Tiara, borrowed from Queen Anne-Marie. The royal wedding was attended by prominent members of other European royal families, including Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel of Sweden, King Felipe and Queen Letizia of Spain, and King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima of the Netherlands. The couple’s decision to end their marriage marks the end of a chapter for the Greek royal family.

In their statement announcing the divorce, Prince Nikolaos and Princess Tatiana expressed their gratitude for the support of their family and asked for respect and discretion during this challenging time. Despite their decision to dissolve their marriage, they emphasized that they would always be there for each other and would maintain a relationship of deep and sincere friendship. Both Prince Nikolaos and Princess Tatiana will continue to be active in Greece, remaining connected to the place that holds a special significance for both of them.

The decision to end their marriage after 13 years comes after a recent joint outing with members of the British royal family in Germany in June 2016. The couple’s close ties with both the Greek and British royal families have been evident in their public appearances and engagements over the years. Despite the challenges they are facing, Prince Nikolaos and Princess Tatiana have expressed their commitment to maintaining a positive and respectful relationship moving forward. They have thanked their supporters for their understanding and have asked for privacy as they navigate this new chapter in their lives.
