According to a statement from the governorate, an operation was launched by the district gendarmerie teams in the village of Soğanlı, where cockfighting was detected in a building. During the search conducted at the address, a total of 65,980 lira, believed to have been won in bets, an unlicensed pistol, 7 carrying cages, a cockfighting ring, medical intervention materials, a betting ledger, and materials used in fights were seized.
The 7 confiscated roosters were handed over to the Directorate of Nature Conservation and National Parks, while a total of 83,525 lira in administrative fines were imposed on 13 individuals found to have placed bets on cockfighting. Legal action was initiated against two individuals who were identified as the organizers of the fights.
The statement emphasized the importance of being by the side of our animal friends at all times and providing assistance, while ensuring that those who use animals for illegal purposes will continue to be closely monitored and held accountable.
