The Ministry of Trade announced that as part of the fight against narcotics crimes conducted by the Customs Protection teams, a truck was considered “risky” during controls at the Habur Customs Gate.

Upon searching the truck, 850 kilograms of heroin hidden among the goods were seized. This amount was reported to be the highest amount of heroin seized in a single operation.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing under the supervision of the Silopi Public Prosecutor’s Office.

The Ministry of Trade emphasized the importance of such operations in combating drug trafficking and expressed their commitment to continue working towards a drug-free society.

The seizure of such a large amount of heroin highlights the challenges faced in preventing the illegal drug trade and the need for coordinated efforts between law enforcement agencies.

The Ministry also thanked the Customs Protection teams for their efforts and dedication to intercepting illegal activities at border crossings and ensuring public safety.
