The Environment, Nature, and Animal Protection Team of the Bafra District Gendarmerie Command initiated an operation after receiving information that illegal profits were being made by organizing cockfights at an animal protection and care shelter owned by an association in Tütüncüler Neighborhood.

Gendarmerie teams raided the shelter where cockfights were taking place and detained 29 people. During the search at the address, 2 rings made for cockfighting and 6 cock carrying bags were seized. 5 Indian roosters and 1 Australorp rooster found in the shelter were also confiscated.

It was reported that Y.T, D.T, and A.Y among the suspects will be processed for providing a place and opportunity for gambling, while the other 26 will be processed for gambling.

The confiscated roosters were reportedly handed over to the Bafra District Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry after veterinary control.

The illegal activities of organizing cockfights for profit have been cracked down on by the authorities, and those responsible have been detained and will face legal action for their actions. The operation carried out by the Environment, Nature, and Animal Protection Team has put an end to the cruel and inhumane practice of cockfighting at the animal shelter in Tütüncüler Neighborhood.
