Police teams from the Istanbul Police Directorate’s Smuggling and Organized Crime Branch stopped a truck on the Ankara-Uşak highway based on suspicion. During the search, they found 1 million unbranded cigarettes filled with tobacco and 1300 liters of ethyl alcohol in the truck’s trailer.

The driver of the truck, C.Y., was taken into custody but was later released after giving his statement. In another operation based on a tip-off, the police raided a business in Köme Mahallesi and seized 102,500 unbranded cigarettes, 3 cigarette rolling machines, 2 compressors, 87 kilograms of shredded tobacco, and an unlicensed hunting rifle.

The owners of the business, K.Y. and M.Y., are facing legal action for their involvement in the illegal activities. The police continue their efforts to crack down on smuggling and organized crime in the region.
