The international coalition forces led by the United States, in cooperation with the “Syrian Democratic Forces” (SDF), conducted military maneuvers and training at the coalition base in the vicinity of the Al-Omar oil field east of the Euphrates, a day after the base was exposed to what was described as “Iranian attacks” in northeastern Syria near the Iraqi border.
The Central Command of the US Army (Centcom) announced that four US soldiers were slightly wounded in the missile attack that targeted, at dawn on Thursday, a base used by the anti-ISIS coalition in the Deir Ezzor region.
Yesterday, armored vehicles, dozens of American soldiers, coalition forces and fighters from the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) participated in the maneuvers. Heavy weapons and missiles were used during the maneuvers, and training strikes were carried out on fake targets with mortars and anti-tank launchers. The ground forces of the SDF also trained in the use of artillery, mortars and anti-tank guided missiles. The maneuvers were accompanied by a flight of coalition warplanes and helicopters.
The international coalition forces have also strengthened their presence in their military bases in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor, where shipments of weapons and logistical equipment have arrived at the Al-Omar oil field and the Konico gas plant in the east of the Euphrates.
On the other hand, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that after midnight Thursday – Friday, a Russian warplane flew over the areas of influence of the Turkish-backed factions in the eastern countryside of Aleppo, and fired an air-to-air missile over the Tarhin area, which includes “oil burners”, in A move described as a show of force. This came at a time when Syrian opposition activists confirmed the “entry of a huge convoy” of Turkish forces into northwestern Syria, which included about 41 vehicles consisting of tanks, tracked personnel carriers and rocket launchers. The column arrived at the Turkish base in the Al-Tala’i camp in Al-Mastouma, south of Idlib, to be distributed to the points spread in the south and east Idlib region.
