Ukraine accuses Russia of trying to divide it

Yesterday, the head of Ukraine’s military intelligence, Kirilu Budanov, accused Russia of trying to divide his country into two parts, as happened with the division of North and South Korea, and vowed to launch an “all-out” guerrilla war to prevent the division of the country. “It is in fact an attempt to establish North and South Korea in Ukraine,” Budanov said in a statement, referring to the division of Korea after World War II.

Signs of expected developments for the future of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions appeared after the end of the military operations in them. The Lugansk region announced its readiness to organize a referendum on joining Russia according to the Crimea scenario. It seemed that Abkhazia was preparing to take part in hostilities in Ukraine on the side of the Russians.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky urged the West to give his country tanks, planes and missiles to repel Russian forces, while his government said Moscow’s forces were targeting fuel and food depots.

In a related context, identical sources in Russia and Ukraine announced that the two parties agreed to hold a new round of direct negotiations next week, after a two-week break during which intermittent consultations took place via video conference technology. It is expected that the tour will be held this time in Turkey.

For its part, the US Sixth Fleet announced the arrival of an American destroyer to the Polish city of Gdansk, according to what was published by the American “Defence Blog” website. He stated that the destroyer USS Forest Sherman has been deployed to the European theater of operations to participate in a range of naval activities in support of the US Sixth Fleet and NATO allies.
