The “Ramadan season” evokes memories in Jeddah

It includes several activities, most notably the storyteller, the cannon and the bazaar

In this holy month, the historical city of Jeddah evokes memories of the past, when the evening is sweet with the stories of the elders of the family and the recovery of habits that disappeared with the rapid pace of life.

Thanks to a full schedule of events, historic Jeddah, with its alleys and streets, is transformed into crowded areas. The Ministry of Culture launched, under the name “Ramadan Season,” a month of continuous activities. As the area sparkled with cheerful lights and Ramadan decorations, and it was completed with a stereoscopic monument of the famous Ramadan cannon.

Social media sites were filled with pictures and snapshots from the season. Constructed shops appeared to organize food sales, and the Ramadan bazaar, where clothes, accessories, and corners of games and crafts were sold. The video clips also highlight groups of singers roaming the alleys of Jeddah Al-Balad, so that their voices rise with traditional songs that a number of singers repeat behind them, applauding with joy and joy at what they hear.

Among the activities is “Ramadan Stories”, where the storyteller returns in the person of a resident of historic Jeddah, sitting on a platform in Barha Al-Hazazi (an open space between the houses bearing the name of one of the old houses overlooking it, which is Al-Hazzazi House). The storyteller sits with a laptop in front of him, displaying aerial photographs of the country, indicating the locations of houses and mosques, and enumerating what remained standing and what was destroyed.
