    Today, Thursday, the Jeddah Book Fair 2022, organized by the Literature, Publishing and Translation Authority, will start under the dome of the (Superdome) Jeddah, with the participation of more than 900 local, Arab and international publishing houses. The exhibition offers its visitors, through its accompanying cultural program, a package full of enriching cultural events and activities in various chapters of literature, knowledge and science. The cultural program of the exhibition, which extends to December 17, includes more than 100 activities that are divided between dialogue sessions and poetry evenings, in addition to the “talk of the book” that brings together readers with a group of favorite authors and writers, as well as workshops, which host a group Prominent Saudi and international speakers in various fields, in addition to allocating platforms for book signings, a corner for the Saudi author that includes more than 400 titles for self-published authors, pavilions for audio books, the digital library, silent books, reading sessions and areas, and cafes that bring together book lovers.

    The Jeddah Book Fair 2022 sheds light on comics (anime) and the art of manga for Japanese cartoons, by allocating pavilions that include many activities, including an interview with the authors of manga books, a march for the most famous heroes of comics, in addition to a children’s area that includes a children’s theater and a storyteller to tell stories. And a games area, interactive shows and activities, performances of the most famous soundtracks, and the music of children’s favorite animated films, which will be performed by the most prominent artists.

    The Jeddah Book Fair will witness the holding of the first science fiction conference in the Kingdom on December 8-9, which will include a range of events and activities. Among them is the collectors’ corner, where science fiction enthusiasts display their holdings for the purpose of opening a space for discussion, sharing experiences, or exchanging holdings with the audience. It also hosts two interactive murals; The first is to highlight the human inventions inspired by and built on science fiction literature, and the second is dedicated to the history of science fiction; To highlight the most important works of science fiction literature since its inception and the most prominent Arab contributions to it over time. The Science Fiction Conference hosts writers and authors with experience in creative writing, and provides an opportunity for writing enthusiasts to present and discuss drafts of their works in the world of science fiction, exchange opinions and benefit from their experiences to produce their works, and interactive experiences in various tracks, in addition to allocating sessions for reading clubs to discuss fantasy books. Scientific, and on its sidelines, a competition is organized to create science fiction characters inspired by the Kingdom, which is directed to children, in addition to the “Make Your Story” activity directed to children. To help them write a story and print it. Within the activities of the exhibition, next Saturday, the first digital publishing conference of its kind in the Kingdom will be held. In his dialogue sessions and workshops, he will review a number of fundamental issues in the digital publishing movement, the most prominent of which are; The latest publishing technologies in light of digital transformation, best practices in marketing, distribution, translation and property rights for books in the digital publishing market, qualitative and innovative initiatives, and challenges facing publishing houses operating in this field, in addition to exchanging experiences and ideas between leaders of the publishing world, specialists, experts and specialized publishing houses. around the world . The digital publishing conference will be accompanied by a rights circulation hall, dedicated to individual meetings between attendees, speakers, and interested parties. To establish business, communicate between them, trade rights in the publishing industry, transfer successful experiences, and contribute to enhancing opportunities for emerging companies to enter the field.

    It is noteworthy that this session of the Jeddah Book Fair is being held for the first time, organized by the Literature, Publishing and Translation Authority after transferring the terms of reference of book fairs to the Ministry of Culture. At the time, the authority announced its intention to launch the activities of the initiative in the next year 2023 by organizing the Eastern Region Book Fair next March, as the first book fair to be held in the eastern region under the umbrella of the Ministry of Culture.
