The relationship between “Hezbollah” and the “Free Patriotic Movement” is heading towards a further crack, after the differences between them became public over a number of political issues in Lebanon, including the elections of the President of the Republic, and the participation of the party’s ministers in government meetings, for the first time since the signing of the agreement. “Mar Mikhael’s understanding between President Michel Aoun and the Secretary General of the party, Hassan Nasrallah, in 2006.”
Hezbollah responded, in a statement yesterday, to MP Gebran Bassil’s accusations against the party that it had “reneged on the agreement, the promise and the guarantee.” Referring to a supposed promise to boycott the government’s sessions, he described the “current’s” behavior as “unwise and inappropriate.”
