Today, in Egypt, the “national dialogue”, called for by President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, will be launched, with the participation of all political forces, with the exception of those who chose to “fight”, in reference to the (banned) Muslim Brotherhood and its supporters, amid promises of guarantees for a “transparent administration” and democracy” for the sessions, and an immediate presentation of the results in front of public opinion.
Dr. Mahmoud Alam El-Din, a member of the Board of Trustees, described the national dialogue as an “important and pivotal historical station” in the efforts to build and stabilize the Egyptian state. He told Asharq Al-Awsat that it “will address all political, social and economic issues that preoccupy the Egyptian public opinion, allowing A healthy climate and environment for public work,” stressing “the dialogue department’s openness to the visions of all existing currents to agree on national priorities, with the aim of supporting the democratic path.”
President Sisi excluded the Brotherhood and their supporters from participating in the dialogue, saying on the anniversary of the ouster of former President Mohamed Morsi, the day before yesterday: “Since they fought, the common ground of dialogue and discussion does not exist, because I am talking about dialogue and they are talking about murder.”
